Get Wisdom!

 Definitions

Wisdom: the quality of state of being wise, knowledge of what is true or right coupled with just judgement as to action; sagacity, discernment or insight 

Sagacity: acuteness of mental discernment and soundness of judgement.

Wisdom isn't just knowing right from wrong or truth from lie. It's not even just doing the right thing. It's knowing what is true and right and attaching it to the action you choose based on the acute insight or discernment you have regarding the situation.

So when Proverbs instructs to get wisdom! Get understanding! We are being instructed  to apply right thinking to right action to the right situation. We are to evaluate more deeply our actions and responses.

It tells me that there are rules and laws and justice. But it also tells me to account for hearts and lives and circumstances. It says leave room for mercy and grace by using acute discernment.

Sometimes that means I have to get to know someone more closely than a Sunday hello in order to truly understand them. I have to be willing to be in others' stories before I make a judgement about their situation or behavior. Perhaps I have to get involved in a little messiness to learn a little wisdom.

It's not a suggestion in Proverbs but a demand. Get Wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forsake her and she will preserve you. Love her and she will keep you. ( her being wisdom)

Let's be about getting wisdom together!

It is something I have to pray for. It is simple but not easy, at least not for me.
